Philadelphia and Horace Trumbauer - Sponsored by The Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America
April 22 - 25, 2004
A formidable American architect of the classical and other styles, Horace Trumbauer of Philadelphia has recently been given renewed recognition with the appearance of Michael C. Kathrens' comprehensive book, American Splendor: The Residential Architecture of Horace Trumbauer. In the book's preface Henry Hope Reed states that "No American builder in the first three decades of the 20th century could equal his output in the sheer number and splendor of his commissions."

The 4-day tour, led by Trumbauer specialist, Richard Marchand, and noted Philadelphia architects Alvin Holm and John Blatteau, will focus on Trumbauer's public and private projects, and will provide an extraordinary view to a spectacular era of civic and country house architecture in Philadelphia.
